Pages of the Sea - write yours at Netley

On the 11th of November 2018, coastal communities are encouraged to come together to say goodbye  to someone who left these shores to play their part in the First World War.

Danny Boyle launched the Pages of the Sea initiative in October 2018.

While the shore in front of Royal Victoria Chapel lacks the expansive golden sands of Folkestone beach, this Netley coastline has seen thousands of injured service personnel returned home by hospital ship, and once well, transported back to their units to re-enter the battle.

So, on Armistice Day 2018 wander down to the water and take in the view. The view which so many men appreciated as they sailed towards the hospital. And think about those who left Southampton on troop ships and never came back.

You can read more about the Pages of the Sea tribute on their website. You can also find someone to say goodbye to as the centenary of the Great War comes to an end.
